The "Coding for Kids" education fad builds on the seductive attractiveness of the games by teaching the child how to become a game programmer / artist / designer.  This tack, aimed at creating permanent consumers of alternate reality contesting for click bait on social media, now extends down to the pre-school level.  But key enabling features in the video games themselves point the way to advances in all human knowledge if exploited by those who understand the irony.
