Building America and the World Back Big, Bold, and Better—The Lessons of FDR for Today
When Americans used to think big, Franklin Roosevelt undertook an infrastructure project which became the envy of the world. The Tennessee Valley Authority infrastructure project, harnessing and directing the energy of the rivers of the South, lifted thousands out of abject poverty and under employment. Wall Street hated this; calling it “socialist.” We have to build our way out of this depression starting now, with just such projects; not with the Green New Deal.
