Kucinich Calls for Investigation of BAE and Cheney

July 2, 2007 (LPAC)--At a July 1st campaign event in Benson High School in downtown Portland, Oregon, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), in response to a question from a member of the LaRouche Youth Movement, agreed that "yes, we need to investigate BAE more fully, and, yes, we need to look at Cheney's involvement in it." Kucinich is the second member of Congress,, to publicly call for an investigation of the BAE scandal.

The crowd of approximately 500 received LPAC's leaflet "LaRouche to Speaker Pelosi: BAE Scandal Demands Cheney's Immediate Impeachment." About half also received the LPAC pamphlet "LaRouche's Trip to Moscow: A Strategy For War Avoidance," and the LPAC offprint article "The Scandal of the Century Rocks British Crown And the City."

In the course of his address, Kucinich said that the U.S. must be committed to building a "community of nations," and in this context denounced the "saber-rattling" against Russia and Iran. He also highlighted the devastating effects of globalization, both for American industry and countries like Mexico, holding it responsible for the "crisis" of immigration.

Three LYM members were able to address the gathering during the question-and-answer period, congratulating Kucinich on his Cheney impeachment resolution HR 333, and raising the BAE scandal, LaRouche's Four Power proposal between the U.S., Russia, China and India, and the necessary grassroots mobilization to remove Cheney from office.
