Groundswell: Wisconsin Paper Tells Congresswoman to Impeach Cheney!
June 2, 2007 (LPAC)--Yesterday, The Capital Times of Madison, Wisconsin posted an editorial calling on Democratic Representative Tammy Baldwin to support Rep. Dennis Kucinich's resolution of impeachment against Dick Cheney.
In the course of making that call, the The Capital Times reports that in a meeting in her district, this week, Baldwin was confronted by constituents asking that she sign on to various efforts to impeach George Bush and Cheney, including Kucinich's.
The editorial notes that Democrats in Congress have chosen to play politics with the issue rather than defend the Constitution, but that Baldwin's constituents expect her to set a higher standard. Furthermore, Rock County Democrats have submitted a resolution to the Democratic Party's 2nd Congressional District Convention, being held today, that calls on Wisconsin's Congressional delegation "to immediately call for impeachment proceedings..." against Bush and Cheney.
The editorial concludes: "Delegates to the convention should back the resolution. And Baldwin should sign on with Kucinich and others who are backing Cheney's impeachment."
