Russian President Putin Tells Der Spiegel There is a Danger of Nuclear Conflict
June 2, 2007 (LPAC)--According to previews in the German language news wires today, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned of a war danger provoked by the U.S. missile defense policy, in an interview for the coming Monday's edition of the German weekly magazine, Der Spiegel . This is the issue of the magazine that will be out in Germany, as the heads of state of the Group of Eight: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States, gather for the annual meeting in Germany.
Putin warned that the "strategic balance is disturbed" by the US plans for stationing missile defenses in eastern Europe. "A wall of protection is to be built here against something that does not even exist," but Russia is forced to react to the US plans - which Putin said "even increases the threat of a nuclear conflict getting unleashed."
The statement demonstrates what Democratic leader Lyndon LaRouche has been warning U.S. policy circles, especially in Congress: without a profound change of relations among the four leading powers--the U.S.A., Russia, China and India--the world is sliding into World War III.
