Russian Ambassador Denies that Russia Accepted the US-EU UN Resolution on Kosovo

May 29, 2007 (LPAC)--Ambassador Vitaly Churkin started his UN Security Council media stakeout on Tuesday, May 29 by denying as "extravagant reports"that Russsia would not veto a UNSC resolution granting Kosovo independence. Churkin added that "so far as the fundamental differences are concerned, they have not changed at all."

UN sources now say that the resolution has been put on ice and will not be discussed by the Security Council until after discussions take place at the G8 meeting in Germany, which starts on June 8.
