Transport Corridors Discussed at International Railway Conference

May 26 (LPAC)-- Russian Railways reports remarks given by its CEO Vladimir Yakunin on May 23 at the opening of the 2nd International Rail-Business Forum taking place in Sochi, on the Black Sea. Yakunin said that the "Business Forum Strategic Partnership 1520," which unites not only railway networks using the 1520 mm broad-gauge system, but also consigners, shippers and companies making transport machinery in Europe and Asia, will facilitate the integration of the broad-gauge system into international rail transport. In recent years, new opportunities have arisen which are encouraging the development of international and transit container shipments.

Russian Railways has consolidated its partnership with railway companies in Italy, France, Finland, Kazakhstan and Ukraine , said Yakunin (and one can add Austria, now, after the May 23-24 meeting in Vienna).

Yakunin also emphasized that Russian Railways is interested in the further development of ties with the railway systems of Kazakhstan , Finland , China and North and South Korea , especially with regard to transit shipments.
