LaRouche Movement Honors Slain Mexican Anti-Drug Official

MAY 25, (LPAC)--Lyndon LaRouche and colleagues in the United States, Mexico, and around the world take note of the death of Jose Nemesio Lugo Felix, who was assassinated by professional killers in Mexico City on May 14, 2007, and honor his life work. Nemesio Lugo, at the time of his assassination, was the director of a special unit in the Office of the Mexican Federal Attorney General, dealing with crime and delinquency. Previously, he had served as the head of security for Mexico's national airport system.

Between 1982-1987, Nemesio Lugo was an active member of the Mexican Labor Party (PLM), the LaRouche affiliated organization. He worked in the State of Sonora at a time that much of the PLM work was focused on LaRouche's call for a hemispheric war on drugs. After leaving the PLM, he continued that pursuit, rising to a key post in the Mexican Federal law enforcement and anti-drug structures. According to both Mexican and American sources, Nemesio Lugo played an important role in several recent major international drug busts. The United States Ambassador to Mexico attended his funeral in Sonora, and top American law enforcement and intelligence officials, including the directors of the FBI, the CIA, the DEA, and the Department of Homeland Security, as well as the U.S. Attorney General, all sent letters of condolence.
