In Case You Want to Know Where the Jobs Went...

May 21 (LPAC)--Following the systematic destruction of the American auto industries, the jobs have begun to move offshore. China is one favorite destination of these wreckers of American auto industry.

On May 21, PPG Industries (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), a global leading supplier of paint and also a Fortune 500 company, held a grand foundation laying ceremony for its eighth manufacturing location in China. PPG was founded in 1883 and is a leading worldwide automotive coatings manufacturer. It has been listed on the Fortune 500 for 52 yeas straight.

This plant is being set up in Wuhu in East China's Anhui Province and is specially built to produce auto paint for Chery Automotive (Wuhu, Anhui, East China), a leading Chinese automobile manufacturer with a registered capital of $228 million. This is the first time that PPG has launched a new factory exclusively for a Chinese brand automaker.

The construction started back in April and will be completed by the end of December this year. The annual output of this new factory is expected to be able to meet the demand for paint by one million Chery cars when it's put into operation on January 1, 2008. PPG started investing in Chinese paint projects in the 1980s and its total investment in China has now reached $300 million. Apart from the Wuhu factory, PPG has seven other factories in China, providing auto paints to BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, General Motor, Dongfeng Citroen and Hainan Mazda.
