Japan's New Prime Minister Brings Change

May 15 (EIRNS)--Since coming to office, Japan's new Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has tended to turn away from the rising fascist stink in Europe and the U.S., towards intensified cooperation with China, Russia, India and Eurasia generally; his first foreign trip was to China. Now he will be visiting India, likely in August-September. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Shotaro Yochi began a two-day visit to New Delhi yesterday to prepare for Abe's trip. The two sides are negotiating a "Comprehensive Economic Partnership," including civilian nuclear cooperation, India Asian News Service reports today. India and Japan are creating a strategic partnership, and the two discussed cooperation in regional forums including the East Asia Summit, and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), where Japan is now an observer. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was in Japan in December, 2006.
