Senator Dodd Loaded up with Contributions from Financial Sector
May 11 (EIRNS)--More than half the money that Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd has raised for his campaign for the Democratic Presidential nomination in 2007 has come from the financial industries he regulates as Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, according to USA Today article by Fredreka Schouten.
Though Dodd has only polled in the single digits, and is not in the so-called "top tier" of the Democratic Presidential field, he has collected $2.7 million from the finance, insurance and real estate sectors in the 1st Quarter of 2007, the article reports. The same sectors also put nearly $1.4 million into Dodd's Senate campaign during the past two years, despite the fact he is not up for re-election until 2010.
