Leading Candidates on Pilgrimage to Hedge Fund Capital

May 7 (EIRNS)-- According to today's Greenwich [Connecticut] Time, both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama will be in town (considered by some to be the hedge fund capital of the US), for fundraisers in the next few weeks. First, Clifton Robbins, the CEO of hedge fund Blue Harbor Group, will open up his home this Tuesday to a $2,300-per-person dinner for Hillary, featuring former President Bill Clinton as headline guest. Not to be outdone, hedge fund billionaire Paul Tudor Jones II will follow that up on May 19 by "opening his waterfront estate in Belle Haven" to Barack for another $2,300-per-person fundraiser. This will be hosted by several of the hedge fund world's biggest names, including George Soros, who, the paper notes, spent $26 million on Democratic candidates in 2004. Echoing Lyndon LaRouche, in his recent paper "Ask the Man Who Owns One," the paper quotes Kenneth Dautrich, a public policy professor at the University of Connecticut, saying, "People don't give money away for no reason at all. It's only reasonable to believe that money does buy influence, particularly when you're talking about a lot of money."
