The Democratic Congress's "Hard-Gore lunacy"
May 5 (EIRNS) According to today's Wall Street Journal , a Senate panel, which brought in environmentalist and industry groups, is hard at work to impose a new lighting "standard" on U.S. consumers, forcing the replacement of the venerable incandescent bulb with energy saving, but more expensive fluorescent lighting.
Included on the panel are various electric bulb manufacturers, the lighting association, the Alliance to Save Energy, and the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy. It is expected that the standard this committee comes up with will be incorporated into the energy bill that just moved out of the Senate Energy Committee last week. "It's the right thing to do," simpered Randall B. Moorhead of Royal Phillips Electronics. "But we're also hoping we'll make some money."
Lyndon LaRouche referred to the plan as "hard-Gore insanity," and said, "we should remind the British that we won the Revolution, and will not allow them to shove such lunacy down our throats. Any Congressman supporting such nonsense," he added, "should be sent to a suitable rest-house."
