Another IPCC Lie: Rice Paddies!
May 3 (EIRNS)--The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is showing itself an anti-human grouping with its targeting of rice growing, on a claim of "global warming" that even environmentalists say is false.
In its latest report, the IPCC claims that rice grown in flooded rice paddies and with the use of cow manure as fertilizer, produces large amounts of methane, which is a greenhouse gas.
The IPCC made this announcement during their meeting in Thailand this week. Calling for curtailing growing of rice, the main foodstuff for the whole population of Asia, is bad enough.
But there is more to this story. In 2006, the journal Science published a report written by Dr. Sherwood Rowland of the University of California, Irvine, famous of the ozone hole scare.
Rowland wrote that methane concentrations in the atmosphere have stayed stable for the past seven years, and in fact have actually decreased. His report noted that methane released from rice paddies was actually on the decrease, with the change to using chemical fertilizers in place of cow manure.
