December 28, 2007 (LPAC)--India has to put its border forces on a "high state of vigil" due to the chaotic situation in Pakistan, and also suspended all regular cross-border train and bus services with the exception of Kashmir – until further evaluation is made, Indian press reports today.
Two U.S. lawmakers, Sen. Arlen Specter and Rep. Patrick Kennedy, were in Islamabad, and were to meet Bhutto yesterday evening, Press Trust of India reported. They were also scheduled to meet President Pervez Musharraf, but that meeting was also cancelled and the two have left Pakistan. Specter told PTI in a telephone interview from Islamabad that "Our foreign policy had relied on her presence as a stabilizing force." He called her death "a real, real, real shock."
