November 19, 2007 (LPAC)--Speaking at a press conference at the close of the OPEC summit in Saudi Arabia, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday he will consult with other Arab nations on a plan to enrich uranium outside the region in a neutral country such as Switzerland.
"We will be talking with our (Arab) friends," he said in exclusive comments to Dow Jones Newswires and reported by the Jerusalem Post.
The plan was proposed by the Gulf Cooperation Council, and called for a multinational consortium to be established that would provide enriched uranium to power plants in Iran, and the Middle East. Saudi Arabia's Foreign Affairs Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal was reported to have said a last week, "We believe it should be in a neutral country--Switzerland, for instance."
