Russian President Putin Says New Sanctions are a Dead End

25 Oct 2007

October 25, 2007 (LPAC)-- Russian President Putin warned on Thursday against new international sanctions on Iran, saying they would lead to a dead end. "Why worsen the situation by threatening sanctions and bring it to a dead end?" Putin said in a veiled reference to the U.S. push for harsher international sanctions on Teheran.

Putin further stated, "It's not the best way to resolve the situation by running around like a madman with a razor blade in his hand."

He also said, "that the standoff around Iran's nuclear program needs to be resolved through patient talk, and not long ago it didn't seem possible to resolve the situation with North Korea peacefully but the dispute has been solved."
