October 20, 2007 (LPAC) -- The Russian paper RosBusiness reported today that Russia is interested in participating in a tender for the construction of Belarus' first nuclear plant, Russian Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov said in Minsk yesterday, after a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Russia and Belarus. Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky responded that Minsk would consider the Russian proposal, but that several other countries are also interested. Sidorsky reported that a tender for the construction of the Belarus plant would be announced by the end of 2007, and that all necessary documents have already been submitted to President Alexander Lukashenko for consideration. Construction is to be completed by 2020.
