Anti-Foreclosure Protest Planned at Deutsche Bank-sponsored PGA Tournament Dinner

29 Aug 2007

Aug. 29, 2007 (LPAC)-- Anti-foreclosure activists will stage a protest at the opening dinner of a high-profile event involving Professional Golf Association super stars such as Tiger Woods, to up the pressure for home foreclosure relief, according to the Boston Herald.

The dinner, sponsored by Deutsche Bank, a German bank with heavy losses in the U.S. mortgage market, is to take place at the Four Seasons in Boston on Thursday night.

A spokesman for Deutsche Bank repeated their position that the bank is simply an industry middle-man providing services as a trustee for institutions that invest in mortgages, the Herald reports. But the bank has conceded that, based on discussions with protest groups, they are drafting a letter to the companies with direct control over the foreclosure process. The bank and the protest groups are in disagreement over how strongly the letter should be worded.
