16 Aug 2007

August 16, 2007 (LPAC) -- While the Cheneyacs in Washington are manufacturing excuses for their planned war on Iran, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Chinese counterpart President Ho Jintao met yesterday on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek, agreeing on intensified cooperation. President Ahmadinejad noted the increasing trade between Iran and China, adding: "Following the weakening of the unipolar world order idea, their monetary system, too is getting weaker constantly and under such conditions, tying the fate of countries to the money of the oppressive powers is a grave mistake."

Chinese President Hu said that "the volume of our bilateral trade keeps increasing constantly.... Despite the unstable status of the international politics presently, Beijing's policy is based on further broadening and strengthening ties and cooperation with Tehran based on mutual respect and in order to safeguard mutual interests." Hu called for continuous high level meetings and strengthening of regional and international cooperation between Iran and China, and endorsed a "peaceful settlement of Iran's nuclear problem, believing that continuing negotiations is the best way to tackle the matter."
