July 29, 2007 (LPAC)--In his first "Angelus" prayer after coming back from a holiday in the Alps, Pope Benedict XVI called for "promoting a progressive and negotiated nuclear disarmament, and favoring the peaceful and safe use of nuclear technology for authentic development, respectful of the environment and always caring for the most disadvantaged." The Pontiff's statements were picked up by Italian national media, and broadcast by RAI state television.
