Brazil and India Set Up Work Team for Space Program

May 21 (EIRNS)--Representatives of Brazil's Space (AEB) and India's Space Department (ISRO) have set up a team to study in the space sectors of both countries, the AEB announced on May 18. The study will be presented in September, in India, at the 58th International Space Congress sponsored by the International Space Agency Federation. Satellite projects, such as satellite tracking, satellite launching and development projects, are the main areas the two countries will focus on, reports XNA of Brazil. Brazil has also shown an interest in tele-medicine and tele-education programs, interchange of scientists.

Recently, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) led a large delegation to Brazil headed by Madhavan Nair, the ISRO chief. The Indian delegation included the director of the Earth Observations System, Venkatakrishnan Jayaraman, and the director of the Polar Satellite Launching Vehicle (PSLV), Neelakanta Narayanamoorthy.

The agenda of the delegation includes a visit to the Ministries of Science and Technology and Foreign Relations. During their visit the delegation talked about bilateral cooperation that has been in progress since 2004, when Brazilian president Luiz InĂ¡cio Lula da Silva made an official visit to India. India currently has reportedly the fastest growing space program in the world. With a budget of $2.4 billion, India has built 29 satellites, developed two launchers and established infrastructure for development, construction and testing of telecommunications, remote sensing and meteorology satellites.
