Demonstrations Against Lisbon Treaty In Milan And Florence

29 Mar 2008

MILAN, March 28 (LPAC)--On Friday, the Italian Movimento Solidarietà held a demonstration against the Lisbon Treaty in front of the Milan City Council in Piazza Scala in Milan, distributing 500 leaflets which were "double face": on one side was the Europeanwide initiative for a referendum against the Treaty, and on the other side was LaRouche's "Three Steps" (as the American leaflet), with an introduction on the debate in Italy on the New Bretton Woods.

The leaflet, demonstration, and initiative received three written endorsements: from government undersecretary Alfonso Gianni, from Sen. Lidia Menapace, who sent regrets that she could not be present because she is campaigning for election in the Marche Region, and of the main candidate of their party, Rainbow Left, in the Lombardy Region, Rosangela Pesenti.

Many citizens of Italy have no idea what the Lisbon Treaty is, and are quite surprised to hear that their vote in the April 13th national elections could be worth nothing, under a British imperial government which made decisions for them.
