March 16, 2008 (LPAC)--Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson made the rounds of the Sunday talk shows today, spreading platitudes while saying nothing of substance, sounding like a man who has spent far too much time around George W. Bush. Here we are, in the midst of the greatest crisis of civilization since the Black Death of the 14th Century, and the U.S. Treasury Secretary is appearing on talking-head programs babbling about the strength of our banking system and the dollar, and the resiliency of our capital markets. Paulson is at least smart enough to know he's lying, but at a time when true leadership is required, Paulson is playing the role of snake oil pitch-man for the bankers. A great crisis has found a little man, but hey, no need to let a little thing like a new Dark Age knock you "off message," right Hank?
