Bear Stearns: A Case For Euthanasia

16 Mar 2008

March 16, 2008 (LPAC)--Following last week's emergency Fed bailout of the bankrupt Bear Stearns, the bankers and regulators are frantically trying to arrange a takeover. Numerous potential buyers are said to be strolling through Bear's offices this weekend like shoppers at a flea market, poking amid the junk for something useful, but finding very little of interest. The problem facing Bear Stearns, and the rest of Wall Street and beyond, is that the world in which they thought they were living no longer exists, which means, ultimately, that they no longer exist either.

"This is one of those cases where, in dealing with a non-human species, we can speak of euthanasia," observed Lyndon LaRouche. "Because it cannot be treated as human; there's no actual intellectual competence in this thing. Why not let it die? It's a gone bunny. Why send good money after bad? Presuming you can even find good money...that's the next subject."
