December 3, 2008 (LPAC)- The Italian trade union CISL reports that almost 1 million manufacturing jobs are threatened in the next two years, in its just-released annual Report on Industry. The job losses are in manufacturing and construction, and do not include jobs in trade and services which are also expected to fall. Currently, 180,000 industrial workers are on short work, compared to 20-25,000 in August.
Italian auto sales have tanked by 29% in November alone. Overall, industrial production, in September, was down 2.3%.
