Lord Malloch-Brown Putting His Snout In Africa Crisis Again

November 15, 2008 (LPAC)--The British Foreign Office Minister for Africa, Asia, and the UN, Lord Mark Malloch-Brown, will meet in Africa with the presidents of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda -- as a British-approved "rebel" force devastates the Congo and steals raw materials.

Lord Malloch-Brown has threatened British military intervention. He is countering the initiative of former South African President Thabo Mbeki and other leaders, who met last week at a summit of the Southern Africa Development Community, pledging their support to the DRC government against the blatant foreign-supported destabilization.

Douglas DeGroot wrote in the current EIR, "The DRC army is poorly equipped, and underpaid. The government has thus aided pro-government militias, and the British have called for the disarming of these groups, putting them on a par with the rebel operation, which is run from outside the country." Thus the British threat to intervene as "neutral" force is a threat to the Congo's sovereignty.

Malloch-Brown is also slated to meet with former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo, who has been designated a mediator by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Obasanjo is pushing, alongside the British, for the manipulated rebel force to be treated as a belligerent with equal status to the government, similar to what the British sought for the Southern Confederacy in international diplomacy during the U.S. Civil War.

Lord Malloch-Brown is otherwise notorious as the British Foreign Office handler of mega-speculator, self-professed Nazi collaborator, and leading dope peddler, George Soros. For decades, Malloch-Brown partnered with Soros in a range of global destabilization, ending up, just before being summoned back to the Foreign Office, as vice chairman of Soros' offshore Quantum Fund hedge fund, and of his Open Society Institute.

Lyndon LaRouche, in a recent statement issued by his LaRouche Political Action Committee, demanded that anyone associated with Soros and Malloch-Brown be disqualified from any role in an Obama administration. LaRouche singled out Samantha Power, a top foreign policy adviser to Obama, as an example of a Soros/Malloch-Brown agent who should be kept out of the incoming administration.
