Oct. 30, 2008 (LPAC) -- Sacramento -- California's fascist Governor declared an unofficial state of emergency yesterday, announcing he will call the legislature back for a special session, most likely on the day after the election. The free fall in state revenues has given him the opening he has been waiting for, to literally go for the kill against social services and education spending in the state.

The budget office has leaked that revenues are at least five billion dollars less than anticipated, when the so-called balanced budget deal passed 85 days late in September. At the time, Schwarzenegger acknowledged that the income was $3 billion short of a balanced budget. With the additional $5 billion shortfall, it means that there is an $8 billion shortfall, which could go even higher. According to Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata (Dem., Oakland), the shortfall is closer to $10 billion.

In his statement yesterday, Schwarzenegger said, "Since everyone has to take a haircut here, it's natural that education gets hit, law enforcement gets hit, prisons are going to get hit, and also health care is going to get hit. So, it's just the math, it's not me, it's mathematics that tell you that you have to make cuts in those kinds of different areas." This is some haircut he is proposing, it is more like a decapitation!

While calling on legislators to "be creative" so the cuts will not hurt the children of the state, his aides admit that things will be brutal. In ducking any responsibility for the crisis, Schwarzenegger blamed the shortfall on "worldwide money woes." Schwarzenegger was put into office by aging fascist George Shultz, precisely because Shultz and his allies believed that Arnie "has the stomach" to push through the brutal austerity measures which they claim are necessary to deal with the collapse of the economy, with California to serve as a model for the nation. Astute observers point out that Schwarzenegger's father's Nazi pedigree will come in handy, as he wields a deadly budget axe.
