Aug 13, 2008 (LPAC)--Lyndon LaRouche was briefed today on reports of the shooting of Arkansas State Democratic Party Chair Bill Gwatney, who is a Clinton super-delegate. (The report at the time was that he was shot at the Democratic Party office in Little Rock, and was in critical condition. His assailant was later shot by police. Both have since died.)
LaRouche said, "I'm not surprised by this; I expected something like this." He said this must be seen in light of the Russia-Georgia crisis, and the defeat handed the British. "Some lunatics are hysterical" about the outcome. While some Brits are trying to distance themselves, and blame Saakashvili, saying the whole thing was "a goof-up," in reality this was "a big defeat of British interests."
"We can make this stick on Soros," said LaRouche "just give them the names of the Soros operatives in Georgia." As to Soros' role in the Obama campaign, he said, "Obama's behavior on this shows again that he is not what he represented himself to be. His nomination would put the nation in grave danger. He must be unmasked." Clinton's campaign was shut down too soon to do this. "She is in a very difficult situation, under enormous pressure. Now, the responsibility lies with the delegates."
LaRouche responded to reports of the pressure on delegates, the threats they will lose their status if they criticize Obama (the Boulder, Colo. case), the warnings that delegates should not sign nominating petitions to place Hillary's name into nomination (the Pa. Case), and the strong response from Clinton delegates to defend their rights. He said the delegates should say, "We can still choose who we're going to support, can't we? We're not a dictatorship yet - if we were, Obama would already be President!"
On Obama: "He doesn't understand the American political tradition. He is a product of foreign influences, and personal defects. The British side of this is clear."
LaRouche concluded: "We must defend our Constitutional system against an attempt to short-circuit it. Don't you think we need a real American President?"
