EU Leaders Babel On After Lisbon Defeat

July 3, 2008 (LPAC)--Polish President Lech Kaczynski yesterday told the daily Dziennik that "It is difficult to forecast how this story will end, but it is not serious to state that without the Lisbon Treaty, the EU does not exist." Kaczynski refused to sign the Treaty on June 1, saying, "For the moment, the question of the treaty is pointless." His recent statements forced French President Sarkozy to postpone his planned visit to Dublin for 10 days. Sarkozy, the second-semester president of the EU as of July 1, then stated that Kaczynski must sign in the end, because he negotiated the treaty, and "it is a question of honesty." Such words coming from Carla's sex toy will probably irritate the Polish President all the more.

Italian Foreign Minister Frattini issued a surrealistic statement: "The EU cannot allow itself to be stuck in quicksand, the world cannot wait for the European reform. It is true that the Irish vote must be respected, but the popular will of millions of other Europeans who ratified the Treaty is just as important." Mr. Frattini is having hallucinations. When did such "millions of Europeans" vote on the Treaty?
