LaRouche to Obama: `Don't Make Things Worse By Kissing Up to London'

May 27, 2008 (LPAC)--Lyndon LaRouche today urged Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama to stop shooting himself in the foot, by making wildly self-discrediting policy pronouncements. LaRouche was referring, in particular, to news reports from London today, indicating that Obama has promised to reinforce and “recalibrate” the special relationship between the United States and the British. “Please,” LaRouche said, “don't make things worse by kissing up to the British.”

LaRouche reminded the Senator that he has already made the mistake of siding with London, in its continued repression in Africa. “The Senator's hostility to Africans struggling for their freedom against the continuing British-led genocide--as in the recent cases of Kenya and Zimbabwe--is bad enough. To openly promote an expanded partnership, under British domination, is just to compound that error. Doesn't the Senator know that the British were behind the spread of slavery into the United States during the early 19th century? Doesn't he recall that it was the British Empire, that promoted the Southern secession, and the Civil War; and that the British were behind the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln?”

Today's London Guardian and Daily Telegraph both contained reports on a recent fundraiser for Obama, held at the London home of Elisabeth Murdoch, the daughter of billionaire rightwing publisher Rupert Murdoch, and co-hosted by Kay Saatchi, the former wife of Charles Saatchi, Margaret Thatcher's chief campaign strategist. In remarks he delivered by phone to the gathering, Obama declared, “We have a chance to recalibrate the relationship and for the United Kingdom to work with America as a full partner.” An Obama advisor elaborated, “It's no longer going to be that we are in the lead and everyone follows us. Full partners not only listen to each other, they also occasionally follow each other.” The Guardian reported that Obama “has long been seen by British officials as the most anglophile of the three remaining presidential candidates, but these latest comments are his first public suggestion that the relationship is unequal and ripe for change.”

Which quotes prompted LaRouche to grimace and urge Obama: “Please, stop ruining yourself!”
