Strasbourg Parliament Decision On Attending Opening of Olympics, Foreshadows EU's Future If The Lisbon Treaty Passes
April 11, 2008 (Nouvelle Solidarité), Paris -- In Strasbourg yesterday, 580 members of the European parliament voted for a resolution calling on the European Union to present a united front on China, and put pressure on the Chinese government to respect human rights. The resolution calls on member states and the commission to define a common position on participation in the opening session of the Olympics. Only 24 voted against the resolution.
The Strasbourg European Parliament's decision foreshadows how the European Union will be used should the British-instigated Lisbon Treaty be implemented.
