The British Plan to "Kenyanize" Zimbabwe Isn't Working

March 31, 2008 (LPAC)--While all the vote tallies are not in, the British government and the European Union have announced they will be backing the opposition whatever the official count is.

The Daily Telegraph quotes Lord Malloch-Brown, the foreign office minister as saying, "We have got to wait for the results. But it is quite likely President Mugabe has lost despite the massive pre-election day cheating that had been organized and structured. If that is the case we will work vigorously with the international community to make sure that the people's result prevails."

Opposition MDC secretary general, Tendai Biti was already announcing results long before any results were reported, citing their own "data base," claiming that opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai was leading with 67% based on returns from 35% of the polling stations. He said that they will claim victory no matter what the official result is.

For the last 28 years, President Robert Mugabe has enjoyed broad popular support in Zimbabwe, with this election being no different. Try as they might, the British, trying to give Zimbabwe the “Kenya treatment” in order to spark a new Euro-African war, simply isn't functioning as planed.
