Tremonti: The Only Solution is Global: LaRouche's New Bretton Woods!

March 18, 2008 (LPAC)--Italian economist Giulio Tremonti, who will be economic czar of Italy if Silvio Berlusconi's PdL coalition wins the April 13-14 elections, is electrifying the country with his appeals for a new international Bretton Woods monetary conference, to restore a fixed-rate international monetary system.

Yesterday, Tremonti alluded to Lyndon LaRouche, the author of the New Bretton Woods plan, on a television talk show. Speaking as the guest on the "Eight and a half" program of the national private channel La7, Tremonti said that the real dimensions of the crisis are not being acknowledged by economists. "In the USA there is only one. In Europe it is only myself."

Tremonti sharply corrected the TV host, who wanted to nail him down to "solutions for Italy." "There is no local solution," Tremonti said. "The crisis is a global one and we need a global solution. We need a new Bretton Woods, otherwise we are hawking miracles." When the moderator continued to insist on an Italian solution, Tremonti stood firm and said: "If you don't want to understand it, our viewers will. There is no local solution; there is only a global solution."

Tremonti repeated his call for a New Bretton Woods yesterday on the main prime-time television news show, at 8:00 PM on Raiuno. Italian LaRouche supporters called in excitedly, reporting that this was a breakthrough in size of audience.
