Stop Kosovo Movement or WWIII Ravages Europe

December 20, 2007 (LPAC)--"We don't want a new World War III to be started in the Balkans," Lyndon LaRouche said today, with respect to reports that that certain European countries, and the likes of Madeleine Albright in the U.S., are pushing for an early declaration of Kosovo independence. "It is a provocation," LaRouche added, agreeing with reports that it would set off a chain reaction. "No sympathy for the Kosovo independence movement--crush it... by tolerating them, you'll have World War III."

The backdrop to LaRouche's warning was that the British/Bush administration effort to push a UN Security Council resolution supporting Kosovo independence died on the vine today, with the Security Council deadlocked. Massimo D'Alema, Foreign Minister of Italy, which holds the presidency of the Security Council, said, "The general will around the table was along the line that stability, security of the population, protection of human rights, and of minority rights, and economic and social developments should continue to be the focus of our action and our commitment in the future."

Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said that "there is still room for negotiations between Belgrade and the Serbian province of Kosovo, But the European Union and the United States insist that the potential for negotiated solution is now exhausted." Churkin continued, "As optimists we do believe that negotiations can continue, and they can produce an outcome which can be acceptable for the two parties and which would keep stability in Kosovo and in the Balkans."

On December 17, although the European Union decided against endorsing 'early' independence for Kosovo, they agreed in principle to send a 1,800-member police and security mission to Kosovo. The EU decided instead, that recognition of Kosovo independence is a decision of 'individual' European nations and not of Russia. Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former UN Ambassador Richard Holbrooke have been working overtime on this issue, trying to strong arm individual European nations to recognize Kosovo's independence, as a way to WWIII, which the British Empire is enthusiastic about.
