More Border Deaths...or PLHINO?

Más muertes en la frontera... o el PLHINO!

December 5, 2007 (LPAC)--510 people died trying to cross the U.S.-Mexican border in the last 12 months (Dec. 1 to Dec. 1), up from 375 who died in 2006, the PRI party's Congressional Working Group on Migratory Affairs reported on Dec. 2. 70% of them were only between 15 and 29 years old; a third were women.

Congressman Edmundo Ramirez Martinez, coordinator of the PRI's Working Group on Migratory Matters, said that an average of 1.5 Mexicans die each day trying to cross the border, and the number dying has been increasing yearly. More than 14,500 have died over the last 13 years, and another 1,000 have disappeared or were buried along the way, with no one knowing.

Ramirez also noted that 350 Central Americans are known to have died in Mexico so far this year, trying to cross through to the U.S.

Isn't it time Mexico and the United States joined hands to create jobs and grow food, by building great water projects instead?
