Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania Passes a Homeowner and Bank Protection Act Resolution

December 1, 2007 (LPAC)--The City Council of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania became the 12th Pennsylvania municipality to adopt a resolution supporting Rep. James' HR 418 and the Homeowners and Bank Protection Act. The Wilkes-Barre resolution (modeled on the New Castle, PA resolution of Nov. 8) passed unanimously on the evening of November 29, the day of the hearing which took place in the Pennsylvania legislature.

Pennsylvania cities and boroughs that have passed support resolutions so far, represented more than 2 million citizens in Pennsylvania. The following list identifies those cities and boroughs, with their estimated population in parenthesis: Philadelphia (1,500,000), Pittsburgh (312,000), Erie (102,000), Wilkes-Barre (41,000), New Castle (25,000), Johnstown (23,000), Sunbury (10,000), Berwick (10,000), Monessen (8,000), West Mifflin (8,000), Canonsburg (8,000), Ellwood City (8,000).
