The Clinton Campaign Office Attack: A Strange Profile and Multiple Identities

December 1, 2007 (LPAC)--There is a gruesomely strange profile involved in the person of Leeland E. Eisenberg, "formerly known as Ralph E. Woodward, Jr.," who held personnel at Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign in Rochester, N.H. as hostages, while threatening to blow himself and them up with a bomb strapped to his body, on Nov. 30 (the alleged bomb proved to be only highway flares). Sources close to the Democratic Party report that this is considered a very serious incident, with the possibility that it is a dry run for something else in the future, or a test case to profile how Sen. Clinton will respond.

While the media keeps referring to Eisenberg with bromides like "troubled," "history of mental health problems," these terms do not even come close to describing this figure who has two different identities; reportedly been in and out of prisons and a mental hospital; who has allegedly attempted suicide; and reportedly was in jail for for rape and "stalking." In addition, in a graphic civil court complaint filed in 2002 against Roman Catholic Cardinal, Bernard Law, Eisenberg/Woodward described how he was raped and molested by a Roman Catholic priest in Westford, Massachusetts in 1982-83. EIR news service has compiled the media reports about Leeland/Eisenberg and is cross-checking the information with law enforcement officials and court records.

Neither the media reports, nor the Massachusetts Superior Court complaint (Civil Action No.: 02-4080F), which was supplied through a posting in The Huffington Post.com, explain why Eisenberg is known by two entirely different names. Nor, do they state which is his real name. However, since his wife, who filed divorce papers against him on Nov. 27, 2007 (according to the Associated Press), is identified as Lisa (Warren) Eisenberg, his legal name is presumably Eisenberg currently.

The following elements of Eisenberg/Woodward's profile are being cross-checked by EIR. Sources are identified in parentheses.:

  • he served time at the Bridgewater (Massachusetts) State Hospital, and the Massachusetts Correctional Institution-Concord. (Boston Globe, Dec. 1)
  • he was scheduled to appear in a Strafford County court in Massachusetts for a domestic violence case, with his wife, on Nov. 30, the day he took hostages. (Associated Press, Dec. 1)
  • he was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence, and for two counts of "stalking," both in 2007 (AP, Dec. 1)
  • he filed the suit against Cardinal Bernard Law while in prison in Bridgewater, MA (Boston Herald, Dec. 1)
  • he was in prison at MCI-Concord for rape, according to "two Department of Correction sources, including a prison guard who worked at the prison" and after being released years ago, returned to prison for "petty crimes." (Boston Herald, Dec. 1)
