November 28, 2007 (LPAC) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, speaking at Annapolis, expressed his support for the peace process. Yang outlined five principles that must lay at the basis of a successful peace in the region, including respect for each other's culture, renouncing violence, engaging Syria and Lebanon, and putting priority on joint development.

Foreign Minister Yang also added, with an eye on the Iranian situation that "it is also necessary to properly manage other hotspot issues in the region so as to create a favorable external environment for the peace talks and promote peace and stability in the entire Middle East."
