November 20, 2007 (LPAC)--The Washington Post reported today that a Federal grand jury in Washington, D.C. has begun an investigation of shooting incidents by private security contractors in Iraq.
One incident reportedly under investigation is the September 16, 2007 shootings by Blackwater personnel at a Baghdad traffic circle, in which 17 Iraqi civilians were killed. The Post reports that FBI investigators have concluded that 14 of the 17 deaths in that incident were unjustified under State Department rules on use of force.
An anonymous source cited by the Post confirmed that the investigation goes beyond Blackwater, quoting him that private security companies in Iraq "have been shooting a lot of people."
However, as LPAC and EIR have been stating, this killing spree is fostered by the fascist policy of Felix Rohatyn and George Shultz’s “revolution in military affairs.”
