November 7, 2007 (LPAC)--Despite the vote of 86 House Democrats (and a majority of Republicans) yesterday against a motion to table Rep. Dennis Kucinich's resolution for impeachment of Vice President Cheney, the office of House Majority leader Steny Hoyer continues to hold to the Nancy Pelosi line that impeachment is not on the agenda.
In a statement issued today, on Kucinich's privileged resolution introduced on the floor yesterday, Hoyer's office wrote:
"Speaker Pelosi and I have made it clear that this Congress is not going to proceed with impeachment, and is going to focus on critical issues facing our nation, such as health care for children and the war in Iraq."
Come on, Steny! The ouster of Vice President Cheney is the life and death question for the nation, without which no other effective measures will succeed. The only issue of comparable importance is the immediate enactment of LaRouche's legislation to create a protective firewall against mass homelessness and banking collapse, the Homeowners and Bank Protection Act of 2007.
