Warning on Foreclosures in Italy

October 15, 2007 (LPAC)--The Italian consumers association ADUSBEF reports that foreclosures in Italy have increased 27%, as a result of the resetting of adjustable-rate mortgages. About 120,000 families could become insolvent this year, 3.5% of total mortgage borrowers.

The Banking Association and two other consumer agencies have rejected Adusbef's figures. However, PRC senators Giovanni Russo Spena and Tommaso Sodano have called for "measures for protection of families", ANSA reports.
