Bundesbank Chief Warns of Inflation

October 12, 2007 (LPAC)--In a clear contrast to the policy of "helicopter money" adopted by the Fed, the Bank of England and also the ECB, Bundesbank chief Axel Weber warned today of rising inflation and called for a tight monetary policy. "There is a risk that, on the background of the expected increase of inflation rates in the Eurozone, a further need for action is required in the coming months," Weber said according to the FT Germany. Weber indicated that for the first time, "prices are rising on a broad front and not only on energy or volatile food items."
