French Insider Publication Reports War Scenarios Against Lebanon, Syria, Iran

September 12, 2007 (LPAC)--In its latest edition, the French publication Réseau Voltaire reports that Arab capitals are getting diplomatic signals that, in its last 18 months, the Bush-Cheney Administration is determined to get some sort of war going between Israel, Lebanon, Syria and Gaza, on the one hand, and to carry out air strikes against Iran, on the other. Specialists say that the administration believes it's "now or never," and they cannot afford not to act now, before changes in the balance of forces regionally and internationally occur. Among those ongoing changes: the change in mood in the U.S. population and elite against the war policy, and regionally, the reinforcement of Syria and Gaza, ongoing since the defeat of the Israeli Defense Forces by Hezbollah last year.

On the incursion of Israeli planes into Syria on Sept. 6, and their fleeing after the Syrians used their anti-aircraft weapons, Réseau Voltaire says that most analysts believe that the fact that Israel denied it happened, indicates that the Israelis messed up this mission, whose objective was to locate and test weapons, equipment, and radar systems which Syria had newly installed with Russian help.
