Ron Paul Leads GOP Candidates in Contributions from Active Duty Military

August 4, 2007 (LPAC)--According to data posted by the Federal Election Commission, Ron Paul leads all of the Republican Presidential candidates in contributions from members of the military. Paul reported $25,915 in contributions from service members in his July 15 report, putting him well ahead of John McCain, whose contributions from military members totaled only $11,645. Military contributions for the rest of the GOP pack were negligible or zero.

According to an August 3 article in The Hill, Paul's support from the military is turning heads on Capitol Hill. "Many of my colleagues were amazed and encouraged that you can be against this unconstitutional and disastrous war [in Iraq] and get military support," he said in a statement posted on his website.
