Russian Press Acknowledges New 9/11 Potential From the Cheneyac Crowd

July 20, 2007 (LPAC)--A July 17 column by Paul Craig Roberts warning, that without Bush and Cheney's impeachment the U.S. "could be a dictatorial police state at war with Iran," was picked up in Russia's RIA Novosti under the headline, "White House preparing to stage new September 11 - Reagan official." The Novositi coverage is keyed off of a radio interview that the former Reagan administration official gave to Thom Hartmann on July 19. Roberts' column had warned of the Cheneyacs in the administration orchestrating a new 9-11 type incident to consolidate power, and of the new Executive Order signed by Bush expanding police powers to the government.

In the Hartmann interview, covered on Raw Story, Roberts took on the Democrats' "wait until 2008" loser mentality. "The Democrats have not brought a halt to Bush's follies or the war, because they expect [Bush's] unpopular policies to provide them with a landslide victory in next year's election," Roberts said, adding that the Cheney faction in power has "no belief in the people or anything like that.... The Constitution is in the way.... Americans need to comprehend and look at how ruthless Cheney is.... A person like that would do anything."
