Danish Mayors Call for Maglev Connection

Copenhagen, June 27, 2007--Mayors of two Danish cities have called for a magnetically levitated railroad line to run across a new bridge that would connect the mainland directly with the island upon which Copenhagen is located.

In a letter to the editor of the Danish daily Jyllands-Posten today, the mayors complain that the traffic program just issued by the Liberal party, Venstre, of which they are members, omits this proposal.

Their move adds important members of Venstre, also the party of the Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, to the list of those calling for building maglev rail. The LaRouche-affiliated Schiller Institute of Denmark has been campaigning for such a plan since July 2006.
